Fred Gilbert Reynolds
Fred Gilbert Reynolds, 84, of Roanoke Rapids died Wednesday, July 15, 2009, at his home.
Mr. Reynolds was born in Birmingham, AL and was the son of the late Joe Hunter Reynolds and Irene Ballard Reynolds. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Mary Jo Waters.
Fred was a veteran of the U. S. Navy and U. S. Army, proudly serving his country during World War II.
He is survived by his wife, Christine Moore Reynolds; four daughters, Susan R. Roberts, of Roanoke Rapids, Jan R. Hux and her husband, Ted, of Littleton, Frieda R. Day and her husband, Zan, of Roanoke Rapids, and Darlene "Deen" Rightmyer and her husband, Edward, of Littleton; eight grandchildren, Ken Hux and his wife, Bobbie Sue, Angie Conner and her husband, Sammy, Christina Albritton and her husband, Brian, John Roberts and his wife, Shannon, David Roberts and his wife, Sara, Kyle Day, Daniel Rightmyer and Lisa Rightmyer; six great-grandchildren, Emily, Casey, Justin, Briana, Owen, and Ansley; and three brothers, Jack Reynolds and his wife, Margaret, of Columbia, SC, Bobby Reynolds and his wife, Margie, and Phillip Reynolds and his wife, Shirley, all of Birmingham, AL.
Askew Funeral & Cremation Services is handling the arrangements, where the family will receive friends Friday, July 17, from 10:00 a.m. until service time. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with Dr. Lavelle Waters officiating. Interment will follow at Cedarwood Cemetery in Roanoke Rapids with military honors.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Rosemary Baptist Church, 936 Jackson St., Roanoke Rapids, NC 27870.
The flag in front of the funeral home flies at half-staff in honor of Mr. Reynolds’ service to his country.
